Tesco Ireland at Watch House Cross in Moyross is located beside a Carry Out off-licence
SUPERMARKET giant Tesco Ireland has applied to Limerick City and County Council for permission to increase the range of alcohol is sells at its store in Moyross.
Currently, the firm only sells wine at its outlet in Watch House Cross.
But it wants to expand this offering out to also include beers and spirits.

According to regulations, shops are allowed to sell wine if it is “subsidiary to the main retail use” of the store.
Permission is required for a full off-licence area to sell alcoholic beverages other than wine.
The application to open an off-licence comes despite the fact there is a Carry Out liquor store in a unit adjoining Tesco Ireland’s Moyross branch.
Carry Out has stores across Munster, including four in Limerick.
Carry Out's operation in Moyross supercedes Tesco, which opened last year.
Council planners are scheduled to make a decision on the proposals by Monday, May 19 next.
