Riverfest activities announced for adults ahead of May bank holiday weekend in Limerick

The Riverfest fireworks are one of the highlights of the annual four-day event

THE HIGHLY anticipated lineup for Riverfest is here, and it promises to be a jam-packed May bank holiday weekend for people of all ages.

While there is plenty to do with the kids from Friday, May 2 to Monday, May 5, a schedule for those over 18 has been announced, with the nightlife set to be “electric”.

“Riverfest Limerick 2025 promises a weekend packed with family fun and excitement, but after the little ones have tired themselves out, the big kids can continue to embrace the energy with great nights out as the festival transforms into a vibrant playground for grown-ups,” said a Limerick City and County Council spokesperson.

“From street parties to live concerts and a spectacular fireworks display, it promises to be an epic weekend in Limerick. Arrange for a night off, put on your dancing shoes and make a date with Riverfest Limerick 2025.”

Dance the night away at the Riverfest Street Party, with live DJs on Honan’s Quay on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, from 6pm to 10pm. 

Limerick will rock you with live shows at King John’s Castle including Qween: It's a Kinda Queen, David Gray and The Coronas adding to the vibrant night-time atmosphere.

For fashion enthusiasts, style icon Celia Holman Lee will be sharing tips at Fashionfest, showcasing Limerick’s talented designers at Gardens International on Friday from 6pm.

Other Riverfest staples will return this year, as Arthur’s Quay Park will be transformed into a hub of excitement with food trucks, carnival rides, and live shows from Friday to Monday at Riverfestival Village, the Panoramic Wheel at the Potato Market, from April 25 to May 5.

The Riverfest Spectacular Fireworks will also make a return and is one for all the family or the perfect way to add some spark to a night out. On Sunday night, find a viewing point around the river to watch the display light up the night sky at 10:15pm. 

The Regeneron Great Limerick Run is coming back too, and Limerick city is set to be jammed with athletes and supporters, leading to celebrations at the finish line and all across the city. Limerick City and County Council is also supporting the Great Limerick Run: Kids Run for Fun at the University of Limerick (UL) in support of Cliona’s Foundation.

Acrobats will take flight through the night skies with their magical tale The Dreaming Heart – a fantastic fusion of aerial circus, spectacular special effects, music and fire at the Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre show. 

For those hoping to tire out the kids, some of the other not-to-be-missed family fun events at Riverfest Limerick 2025 include the Adrenaline Freefall, an ultimate BBQ showdown at the National All-Ireland BBQ Competition, or make a splash with Riverfest on the Shannon's water-based fun.

Test your skills with Games in the Garden at the Hunt Museum, and don't miss the What's Watt Symmetry Circus Show featuring acrobatics, comedy, and more. 

Get ready to dive into the unique energy of Limerick’s premier festival with the handy Riverfest Limerick 2025 Events Map.

ASD Ireland will be providing their Mobile Sensory Unit at Sarsfield House car park (beside Arthur’s Quay Park) from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The space includes a sensory room. No advance booking is required.

A number of road closures and diversions will be in place to facilitate the safe and smooth running of Riverfest Limerick activities and events. Full details can be found on Limerick.ie.

Named Festival of the Year 2024, Riverfesr is setting a new standard for eco-conscious festivals with a range of sustainability initiatives. The festival will promote eco-friendly travel options, zero-waste practices, and the use of digital event materials to minimise environmental impact.
