A THIEF who stole an electric bicycle from a shopping centre car park in Limerick while the owner was inside is being investigated by gardaí.

A male in his 30s reported locking his black electric scooter-style bike outside the entrance to the shopping centre in Dooradoyle on Wednesday, April 24, between 5pm and 5:30pm.

“On his return, the lock had been broken and the bicycle was gone,” said Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, crime prevention officer, Henry St garda station.

“I would like to remind the public of a few key tips to help prevent bicycle theft. Use a high-quality U-lock on the frame, and a second lock, like a cable or chain, to secure the wheels.

“Record your bike’s serial number, take clear photos, and note any distinctive features. This information greatly assists gardaí in recovering and returning stolen bikes.”

Anyone with information about the bicycle theft in Dooradoyle is asked to contact Roxboro garda station on 061 214 340.
