Young girl airlifted to hospital after collision involving car and bike in Limerick

A YOUNG girl was airlifted to hospital after she was knocked off her bike in County Limerick.

An air ambulance landed near the scene of the incident in the Effin area on Wednesday evening and airlifted the child to  hospital for treatment for her injuries.

Gardai, firefighters from Kilmallock and Charleville stations, and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service all attended the scene.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred in Ballyvodane, Kilmallock, County Limerick on Wednesday May 14, 2025 at approximately 5.30pm.

“The collision involved a car and a cyclist. The cyclist, a female child, was conveyed to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the locality on Wednesday evening between 5pm and 6pm and who may have information relating to the incident (including mobile phone or dash-cam footage) to contact them.
