The scene of the collision on the Corbally Road

A CAR flipped on its roof during a serious collision near a Limerick primary school in the early hours of this Tuesday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the single vehicle incident in close proximity to Scoil Íde Primary School on the Corbally Road shortly after midnight.

Limerick Fire and Rescue Service received the report at 12.07am with three appliances being dispatched from Mulgrave Street. Gardai and paramedics with the National Ambulance Service. They remained at the scene for over an hour.

It is not know at this time how many people were in the car or the extent of their injuries, if any.

The section of road was closed for a period to allow for the vehicle's occupants to be removed safely and for the car to be towed away.

An Garda Siochana have been contacted for comment about the collision.
