A GRANT contribution of €50,000 has been issued from the discretionary Mayoral Fund towards the Bruff Childcare Project.
Work has been underway on the project to provide adequate childcare facilities in the community since 2024 and is now nearing completion.
The project, which is a single story build encompassing two rooms, is located on the grounds adjacent to Scoil Dean Cussen National School.
The Bruff Grange Meanus (BGM) Community Council was awarded €149,485 in funding through the 2023 Community Recognition Fund through the Department of Rural and Community Development, for a Modular Childcare Facility in Bruff. The Fund is specifically targeted at projects that are located in cities, towns and villages that are hosting the Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection and/or International Protection Applicants.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, commented:
“I am really proud to support the Bruff Childcare Project through the Mayoral Fund. The blockages to this fine project were revealed to me during the election campaign and I committed to find a solution. This is a great example of the good that can happen when a community comes together to support its youngest members.
"This grant is about honouring a commitment to give families in rural Limerick the support they need and deserve, so that their children can grow up in their own communities, even if their parents are working elsewhere during the day. Projects like this are what we should be aiming for and investing in – making our towns and villages stronger, fairer and more vibrant places to live. I complement all who have helped to deliver this on their hard work and dedication to the initiative.”
The group has actively engaged with the Limerick Childcare Committee and the national school of the village to develop the plan for this project.
An opening date for the facility will be announced in due course.
