Group of Limerick ceramic artists join potter's market line-up

Last year’s event was a great success with over 1000 visitors

THE FOURTH year of Clare Potter’s Market will take place within a 17th century farmyard at Ballymorris Pottery.

Featuring 16 potters from across the country, the market will showcase everything from stoneware functional ranges to one-off sculptural pieces.

Attendees will see wacky houses, beautiful flowers, colourful tiles, and bowls begging to be used.

This year, the event is also pleased to welcome Limerick Ceramic Artists, who will present a pop-up exhibition of exceptional ceramic pieces.

Established in 2011, this group supports and develops the creativity of ceramic artists throughout the mid-west region and this exhibition is set to showcase their most innovative works.

Encouragement of local ceramic artists to produce quality work is high on their agenda whilst raising the profile of ceramics in Limerick by hosting exhibitions of recent work of members.

These exhibitions are an addition to the scope of the visual and creative arts in the area and they aim to encourage high standards of creativity.

Their work includes a wide variety of techniques and styles presenting a broad picture of what is possible in ceramics.

Through exhibitions the group aims to support and develop the creativity of individual ceramic artists also seeking to support audience development initiatives while running a number of interactive clay workshops which are open to the general public.

Limerick Ceramic Artists also seek to develop and maintain strong connections with LSAD in order to support new and emerging talent.

Having exhibited in The Hunt Museum, King John’s Castle, Fab Lab, The Milk Market, Belltable, Raggle Taggle, the Craft Hub and participated in Culture Night offering very popular clay events, the group aims to encourage local ceramic artists.

The atmosphere is always supportive when so many creative individuals come together. This year will be particularly special with the participation of the Limerick Ceramic Artists.”

The market will take place on June 21 and 22.

Many participants return each year, saying that “it is a delightful venue, creative and enjoyable, as well as a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.”

With over 1000 visitors attending last year’s event, this year promises to be even more exciting for those who love clay in all its forms.

Just off the N18 between Cratloe and Bunratty, there will be ample on-site parking, along with complimentary tea, coffee, and baked goods available.
