THERE would have been added fun at the Charleville Show this weekend if the chances of Limerick and Cork meeting in an All-Ireland final was still alive but sadly we all know what happened in Croke Park last Saturday.
Show chairman John McNamara is even a proud Limerick man from Caherline but is farming in Charleville since 2004.
“The Charleville Show is the best two-day show in Munster,” said Mr McNamara.
“Committee members and all helpers are the main cog in the wheel when it comes to running our show and I want to say a very big thank you to each and every one of you.
“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors from all over Ireland and abroad,” added the chairperson.

With over 70 acres of showgrounds and ample off-road parking, the Charleville Show, taking place at Pike Cross, (Eircode P56XO94), continues to grow in both scale and reputation.
One of the main highlights is Saturday’s dairy and beef section, featuring over 119 classes, including the prestigious All-Ireland Junior Cow Competition with a €2,000 prize fund.
On Sunday, the sheep section hosts live shearing demonstrations every half hour from 1.30pm.
The vintage section will be a major draw again this year, with the Ford and Fordson theme bringing together classic tractors, 1930s cars, and trucks, plus over 700 exhibitors expected.
Equestrian fans can look forward to a packed schedule of horse and pony events, with qualifiers for RDS championships, working hunter classes, and pony club games hosted by Duhallow Pony Club on Saturday. The show jumping arena promises top-class competition on both days, including two grand prix classes.
The dog show, starting at 1pm on Sunday, is always a crowd favourite, while families will also love the bonny baby show, pets corner and the ever-creative children’s art and craft entries.
The baking tent, with its mouth-watering displays, and horticulture and decorative sections, round out a vibrant weekend of rural tradition and community spirit.
Entertainment this year includes live music on Sunday by Dermot Lyons and James Keogh, followed by a lively jiving competition.
From tots to teens to the young at heart the Charleville Show will have something for everyone to enjoy this weekend.
