WE MAY be in the throes of mid-summer, but the countdown to the biggest night in Limerick’s business calendar this November is under way.

Limerick Chamber has formally launched its regional business awards for 2025.

The event, on Friday, November 14, is being sponsored by Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), and will double up with the Chamber president’s dinner, backed by AIB.

Once again, the Limerick Strand Hotel in the city centre will play host to the region’s largest annual business gathering, with more than 400 business leaders, policy makers and political leaders expected to attend the black-tie ceremony.
Applications have opened for the awards, which are now in their 14th year, with the shortlisted firms being announced on Friday, October 17.

Chamber chief executive Michelle Gallagher said: “The awards highlight the businesses that are not just succeeding but actively shaping the region’s future. As the voice of business in the Mid-West, Limerick Chamber is proud to champion the companies driving our region forward. From ambitious startups to global exporters, these awards recognise the real engines of growth and innovation. They reflect the strength, diversity, and resilience of our business community.”

The awards are open to all businesses across the region.

Chamber membership is not required to apply, and the judging process is independently assessed.

Each category has been developed to reflect business excellence across different sizes, sectors, and impact areas.

There are nine separate award categories in total to ensure as many businesses as possible from across the region are honoured.

There is: best emerging business, best small to medium sized enterprise and best employer.

On top of this, there are three awards: one for community impact, one for sustainability and environmental leadership, and one for excellence in retail and hospitality.

A company will be honoured for its innovation and digital transformation, while a not-for-profit organisation will receive an award on the night.

From all these winners, the overall business of the year will be selected.

In addition to this, Chamber president Mairéad Connolly, tax partner at PwC Ireland, will give out a special lifetime achievement award.

Personally selected by herself, previous winners of this award include JP McManus, John Kiely, with staff of Milford Care Centre receiving last year’s prize.
