Bosses of iconic Limerick restaurant warn over 'misinformed' videos on Facebook

Chicken Hut at O’Connell Street in the city centre is one of Limerick’s most well-known take-aways

BOSSES at a Limerick restaurant have asked social media users to be “mindful” when sharing “misinformed videos” online - and to be aware of the impact these can have on small firms.

Chicken Hut, based at O’Connell Street in the city centre, posted the warning on its Facebook page.

It came after a video was uploaded to the social media site from a person, who claimed to have collected food from the popular take-away.

The video has been shared widely on Facebook, with almost 300 people commenting on it as of this Tuesday afternoon.

A statement, signed off by management at Chicken Hut, read: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media in relation to Chicken Hub being targeted and defamed online.”

The statement adds: “We ask you to please be mindful when sharing misinformed videos on social media.”

It adds that they look forward to seeing their customers in Chicken Hut again very soon.

Chicken Hut did not return a request for further comment from Limerick Live.

One of Limerick’s most well-known outlets, Chicken Hut, located at 31-33 O’Connell Street first opened in 1995.

It’s well-known for its secret recipe, chicken and gravy.

For many people, it is a must-visit when coming to the city.

Prior to it being known as Chicken Hut, another fried chicken outlet operated on the site, going by the name of Pat Grace’s famous fried chicken.

Businessman Mr Grace was the first person to have the rights to operate the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Ireland, having met its founder, the late Harland David Sanders in 1978 at a Chicago trade fair.
