Limerick rugby player, Conor Phillips has been dumped from the Love Island final

RUGBY Union player Conor Phillips from Dooradoyle has been dumped on Love Island alongside Dubliner Megan Forte Clarke who he was partnered with on the popular dating show.

The pair have narrowly missed out on a place in the final and a chance to win £50,000 as the grand final is set to take place on Monday night in Mallorca.

As Conor was getting ready to leave the villa, he said: "My time has come to an end. I've loved every minute of it. It's made me so many good friends that I'm going to be friends with for years and I found someone".

"I probably had one of the craziest journeys out of everyone in there, was in couple after couple, after couple but I think each time nothing really compared to the connection I had with Megan so I'm buzzing".

Megan had originally been dumped by the public earlier in the series but made a shock return along with Blu Chegini a week ago.

Conor played with Young Munster RFC in Limerick and attended Crescent College Comprehensive and he joined the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy in January 2021.

He was a Grand Slam winner with the Ireland U20s in 2019 and is also an Ireland 7s international, featuring in the Sevens World Series. Conor made his senior debut for Munster against Zebre at Musgrave Park in October 2022. He was released by Munster in recent years and has been playing in the All-Ireland League with Terenure in Dublin.
