Limerick talent shines on screen in new short film

LIMERICK'S creative talent takes centre stage in the new short film The Moment Before, which has already begun making waves on the international festival circuit.

Though set in Dublin, the film’s cast is swimming in Limerick talent. Leading actor Cathal O’Doherty, along with castmates Philip Wright and Katie Berry, all hail from Co. Limerick.

Co-producer and actor Kenneth Barry, who previously featured in Fair City and Blackshore, brings strong Limerick roots to the production, now taking on a pivotal on-screen role.

The film tells the story of a chance encounter between a restless teenager and a mysterious woman. What begins as an ordinary conversation gradually uncovers hidden truths, forcing both characters to face their deepest fears and regrets.

The emotionally-charged narrative shines a spotlight on the vital social issues of mental health, suicide prevention, and depression awareness.

Behind the camera, Limerick’s influence continues with Director of Photography, Shashank Chopra. With experience in the Bollywood film industry since 2009, Chopra now works as a freelance cinematographer, bringing his visual storytelling skills to the project.

Directed by Declan Gill, The Moment Before recently won ‘Best Script’ at the NITTIN International Film Festival in Malaysia.

The film is also set to feature in over 30 film festivals in the coming months, a testament to the strength of the Limerick-led production.

The film’s success highlights Limerick as a hub for  filmmakers and actors making an impact on a global stage.
