SSE AIRTRICITY has announced over €200,000 in funding for six innovative sustainability projects across Limerick through its Generation Green Community Fund.
These projects are among 56 community-led sustainability initiatives across the island of Ireland to receive full funding from the €5 million fund, which supports local efforts to enhance community resilience, promote environmental programmes, and develop sustainable infrastructure.
The Generation Green Community Fund reflects SSE Airtricity’s long-term commitment to supporting the communities it serves by enabling meaningful environmental and social change.

TASC (Think-tank for Action on Social Change) will drive its “People’s Transition” programme in three communities, including Adare, using climate action as a tool for local and just sustainable development.
The Burrenbeo Trust’s Hare’s Corner helps landowners create wildlife-friendly habitats such as mini-woodlands and heritage orchards, offering tailored advice to develop ‘Plans for Nature’ on their land.
To tackle coastal erosion, ACT (Accelerating Change Together) will train 240 participants and 15 trainers in 17 coastal communities on sustainable dune management and nature-based climate resilience solutions.
Education projects include the Irish Schools Sustainability Network (ISSN), which will run its Sustainability Accelerator Programme to support students, teachers, and principals in delivering innovative sustainability education.
Meanwhile, Teen-Turn integrates green innovation into afterschool programmes for youth in rural and underserved areas, increasing environmental awareness and fostering eco-tech skills.
Stephen Gallagher, Managing Director of SSE Airtricity, said, “We understand the challenges many projects and groups face in accessing funding resources, and we’re proud to play a part in enabling them to create lasting environmental and social impact.”
