County Limerick school appoints new principal with 'deep passion for education'

New principal of County Limerick school appointed

Mairéad Finucane has been appointed as the new Principal of Scoil Pól, Kilfinane

SCOIL Pól in Kilfinane has welcomed a new chapter in its history with the appointment of Mairéad Finucane as Principal

The school announced Mairéad's appointment, saying: "A native of Kerry, Mairéad brings with her a wealth of experience, dedication, and energy that will no doubt enrich the life of our school community. Former Principal of Presentation Secondary School, Tralee, her leadership there has been marked by a strong commitment to student wellbeing and academic excellence."

Ms Finucane also previously served as Assistant Principal and teacher of Home Economics and Religious Education at Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom (2019–2023), and at Vocational School Abbeyfeale/Coláiste Íde agus Iosef (2005–2019). Across these roles, she demonstrated a deep passion for education and a strong belief in the potential of every student.

"Scoil Pól looks forward to this next chapter, and the future, under Ms Finucane’s leadership. On behalf of the Board of Management, and all of our school community, we extend a warm welcome to Ms Finucane as she takes up her new role," stated Scoil Pól, Kilfinane in a note on social media.

Former principal of the school, Michael O'Hara retired recently after 13 years at the helm.
