Traitors twist: Limerick father-son duo risk exposure after costly slip

One contestant, Mark, suspects Paudie Moloney as a traitor and voted for him to be banished from the castle during the first round table of the season last night

Father-son alliance faces exposure on The Traitors as slip of the tongue puts Limerick duo at risk

Paudie and Andrew Moloney from Kilmallock are contestants on the new show, The Traitors Ireland

THERE was a slip of the tongue on The Traitors Ireland last night as participant Andrew Moloney from Kilmallock called out 'Daddy' when speaking to his father Paudie during a challenge.

The Limerick father and son are letting on not to to know each other so the other contestants aren't aware there is any connection between them. Andrew said "thankfully, nobody heard" after he made the blunder. Despite avoiding detection in this instance, there could be trouble for the duo soon as Paudie is a traitor and it has been suggested by the other traitors to murder Andrew.

One contestant, Mark, an IT analyst, also suspects Paudie as a traitor and voted for him to be banished from the castle during the first round table of the season last night. However, faithful Diane received the highest number of votes and was banished from Slane.

Paudie and fellow traitor Eamon had a conversation earlier in the episode with Eamon asking him did he have any name for tonight, referring to who they would murder. Paudie said: "I'm afraid Eamon made a bit of a boo boo and I hope he hasn't thrown the two of us under the bus... I just hope nobody heard it."

Last night's episode saw David murdered and Diane banished and there was huge shock as it was revealed by host Siobhán McSweeney that Diane was a faithful.

The episode also saw the contestants face their second mission where they had to find the correct symbol to correspond to the correct Ogham stone. They were successful so the prize pot now stands at €9,800.

Fresh from gaining nationwide attention on The Traitors Ireland, Paudie took centre stage on Monday night as he spun the drum for Kilmallock GAA Club's weekly fundraiser 'beat the club draw.'

Paudie, 68, is a retired prison officer while his son Andrew, 33, is a civil servant.

Paudie is the grandfather while Andrew is the uncle of star Limerick and Kilmallock hurler Shane O’Brien. Neither Paudie or Andrew knew beforehand that either were going to be on the show.

The secret Traitors have to deceive, manipulate and eliminate their rivals in the battle for up to €50,000. They have to secretly murder their fellow players, eliminating them from the competition. The rest are Faithfuls- and they must work together to expose the saboteurs before it is too late.

The Traitors Ireland continues every Sunday at 9:30pm, Monday and Tuesday at 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, followed directly by The Traitors Ireland: Uncloaked which is filmed in Limerick.
