OPPORTUNITY knocks at Limerick’s LEDP Campus in Roxboro this Thursday as the Southside Skills Fair opens its doors to the public, offering a vibrant showcase of career, education, and training prospects across the Mid-West region.

Taking place from 12pm to 2pm, the Skills Fair will allow attendees to engage with employers or learn more about the apprenticeship and training pathways in your area. This is a unique opportunity for communities to connect with local opportunities available in their area.

Whether you're exploring your next move, switching careers, or just curious about what’s out there, this event is your chance to connect directly with over 30 employers, educators, and support agencies, all under one roof.

From cutting-edge technology firms and healthcare providers to apprenticeship programmes and community services, the fair brings together a diverse mix of organisations.

This forms part of the overall strategy within the Outreach to Employment Programme which is led by Limerick City and County Council in Partnership with Limerick and Clare Education & Training Board (LCETB) Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) and Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership (LEDP).

Stands at this year’s Southside Skills Fair will include: Analog Device, Takumi Precision Engineering, Maldron Hotels, Virgin Media Ireland, Limerick & Clare Education and Training Board, Apprenticeship Pathway, Iarnród Éireann – Irish Rail, Limerick City & County Council, Irish Home Care, An Garda Síochána and Southill Hub.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran is delighted to see the latest part of the Outreach to Employment Programme coming to Roxboro this Thursday, saying: “The Skills Fair is about unlocking potential and creating real connections between people and opportunity. It reflects our commitment to inclusive growth, where every community in Limerick has access to the tools, training, and support needed to thrive in today’s economy. This is now an opportunity for those on the Southside of our city and beyond, to engage with the numerous employers and educational bodies, which can help in the next steps of their career.”

Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery is encouraging participation, adding:

“The Southside Skills Fair is a powerful example of what collaboration can achieve. Through the Outreach to Employment Programme, we’re making sure that people in Regeneration areas aren’t just included, they are prioritised. It’s about opening doors, building confidence, and ensuring everyone has access to meaningful pathways for employment and education.”

Acting Director of Regeneration, Sports and Recreation at Limerick Council, Declan White commented:

“The Southside Skills Fair reflects our ongoing commitment to Regeneration that goes beyond bricks and mortar, it’s about building futures. By connecting people with employers, training providers, and education partners, we’re helping communities access the tools they need to grow, thrive, and take ownership of their career path.”

This Southside Skills Fair is the second of 2025, after the well-attended Northside edition last April. Jobs fairs were held in Regeneration communities from 2022 to 2024, with the Skills Fair stemming from those. There is now an additional focus on apprenticeships and skilled labour.
