Minister’s visit brings ‘hope’ to Limerick schools  amid crisis

THE Minister for Special Education and Youth, Michael Moynihan has met with Limerick school leaders to discuss the need for vital services such as educational assessments and speech therapy.

Le Chéile National School, Gaelscoil Sheoirse Clancy and the Limerick Child & Family Centre, welcomed the Minister's visit to Le Chéile NS to address the urgent need for support services for children and families.

Shane Donoghue, Deputy Principal of Le Chéile NS said: “We very much welcomed the Minister's visit and his understanding of the needs on the campus. This visit brings hope to our community.”

The Minister met with school leaders and stakeholders, including University of Limerick, St Gabriel's, TUSLA, and NEPS, to discuss onsite speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, counselling, and educational assessments, following the crisis raised in the Dáil last year.

TDs Willie O'Dea and Maurice Quinlivan and Cllr Catherine Slattery were all present for the Minister's visit.

Le Chéile NS, with Gaelscoil Sheoirse Clancy and Limerick Child & Family Centre, serve the Southill, Galvone and Southside Limerick communities. All are committed to inclusive education.
