ALTERNATIVE folk artist Noelle O’Sullivan has released her new single “Tumbleweed”, the first track from her forthcoming sophomore album “Rolling on the Inside”, set to release later this year.
Originally from Glin, Co. Limerick and now based in Lixnaw, Co. Kerry, Noelle O'Sullivan continues to carve out a distinctive presence in Irish indie-folk.
Having been a finalist in Irish Music Month (2024) with Limerick Live 95 FM, her career highlights include the release of her debut album Seeds (2011), featuring the track “Sunny Days” which aired on RTÉ Radio 1 and featured in the UK soap Hollyoaks.

The single was officially launched on Friday, September 19, during a special Culture Night performance at St John’s Theatre, Listowel, where the song’s accompanying music video, shot by Fionnan Barrett and Luke Mahony, was also unveiled.
Rooted in storytelling and full of emotional depth, “Tumbleweed” is a tribute to Philomena Lee and her son Anthony, whose story was portrayed in the Oscar-nominated film “Philomena”.
Written and performed by O’Sullivan, the track reflects on the injustices suffered by women and children in Ireland’s Mother and Baby Homes, weaving historical weight into a deeply human narrative.
“It’s important to find new ways of telling this story so we, as a society, can evolve and understand the consequences of our actions,” said O’Sullivan.
Produced by Brian Casey at Wavefield Recording Studio, the track features O’Sullivan’s emotive vocals and acoustic guitar, supported by Casey’s multi-instrumental arrangements and Anthony Noonan’s drumming.
