TESCO Ireland has opened its store at the Crescent Shopping Centre following a €5m renovation.

The store has expanded into a neighbouring unit at the Dooradoyle shopping centre, with the retailer saying this will offer customers “more choice, more space, and a new look”.

The upgraded supermarket now spans 1,600 square feet and features new shelving, lighting, modern refrigeration, and better facilities for staff working for the firm.

Among the products on sale at Tesco Ireland are Old Irish Creamery Cheese from Effin, which was showcased at the re-opening.

Store manager Michael Fitzgerald, who leads a team of 95 local colleagues, says the store transformation has been well received by customers in the area.

“Customers have been remarking about the real difference they can see and feel when they shop in Tesco Dooradoyle now.

Every part of the store has been upgraded to make shopping easier and more enjoyable. We’re especially proud to support so many fantastic local producers. My team has been amazing as we’ve kept the store open to serve customers while we’ve refitted it too.”

Retail operations director Paul Healy added: “This renovation is about more than just a new look; it’s about investing in the Limerick community. We’re thrilled to be part of such a vibrant area and look forward to serving Dooradoyle for many years to come.”

Tesco operates eight stores across Limerick, employing over 640 people locally.

Among the stores locations are include Abbeyfeale,, Newcastle West, Arthurs Quay, Coonagh, Roxboro, Kileely Road, and Dooradoyle.
