The Limerick Strand Hotel was hit by flooding over the weekend
A LIMERICK city hotel was affected by flooding on Saturday with repairs and restoration work required over the coming weeks.
It is understood a sprinkler head went off erroneously which staff quickly moved to resolve.

Limerick Live contacted The Limerick Strand Hotel about the incident.
In a statement, Stephen O’Connor, general manager, said: “We would like to inform you that our hotel recently experienced a flooding incident.
“Thankfully, the situation was promptly brought under control by our facilities and management team with the assistance of the Limerick Fire and Rescue Service, who attended the scene swiftly.”
Mr O’Connor said it is business as usual, but there will be some temporary adjustments to their food and beverage offerings over the coming weeks while they carry out necessary repairs and restoration work.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate our customers’ understanding and patience during this time.
“The safety and comfort of our guests remain our top priority, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of service throughout,” said Mr O’Connor.
The hotel recently refurbished 184 bedrooms in a contemporary style.
