Ambitious new plan for care services launched in Limerick

MILFORD Care Centre has set out an ambitious five-year roadmap to expand care services, embrace digital health solutions and invest in education, research and infrastructure, as part of its new plan.

The local hospice has officially launched its Strategic Plan 2025–2030, marking a major milestone in advancing Specialist Palliative Care and Older Adult Services across the Mid-West region.

Three strategic priorities were identified in the plan: service excellence and innovation, people and culture and organisational governance. Four core areas were also identified to support this. These strategic enablers are education and research, engagement and partnerships, infrastructure and sustainability, and digital transformation.

Milford Care Centre plan to strengthen and develop both Older Persons’ and Specialist Palliative Care services to ensure equitable access for all communities, expand community partnerships to allow service users to receive care in their preferred setting, leverage emerging technologies such as telehealth solutions and invest in workforce development and training.

They will be proactive in identifying and leveraging funding opportunities to support long-term financial sustainability, and service enhancement by developing a financial resilience plan to address inflation and rising costs.

The facility will also develop a state-of-the-art education and research centre and research agenda that contributes to best practices in care. They will invest in centre upgrades and expansions in line with the rolling three-year capital plan and enhance residential and community spaces for service users.

Chairperson on the Board of Directors for the hospice, Catherine Duffy, said the strategic plan “sets out a clear framework to guide Milford’s growth, ensuring we remain responsive, resilient and rooted in our core values.”
