Kilmallock Courthouse.
A LIMERICK man who illegally entered lands in County Limerick has been warned he is “very much on a slippery slope” after he was convicted of a trespassing charge.
Barney Casey, aged 21, of Clonlong, Southill was told he "needs to engage" with the Probation and Welfare Service, when he appeared before Limerick District Court, sitting in Kilmallock.
He was before the court charged with entry onto lands for the purpose of hunting without the permission of the owner under the Wildlife Act 1976. The incident took place at Boolanisheen, Galbally on October 19, 2023.

Mr Casey has six previous convictions, including one for possession of drugs for sale or supply.
Having noted the contents of a Probation Report, Judge Patricia Harney commented that he is “on a slippery slope”, adding: “If there is any more of this carry on, he’s going to be in serious trouble.”
She commented that the land owner was "quite excited" over what happened and she warned Mr Casey that he needs to engage with the probation service moving forward.
The defendant was placed under the supervision of the probation service for six months, after he entered a €100 bond.
"If he doesn't do what's asked of him, he will come back here," said Judge Harney.
