A LIMERICK man who is accused of violent disorder and several other charges is facing trial before Limerick Circuit Court, a judge has been told.
Michael Mulcaire, aged 21, of Abbeycourt, Rathkeale appeared before Limerick District Court in Kilmallock on Friday last.
He was arrested earlier that morning and charged with violent disorder under the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994, arising from an incident in Rathkeale on June 1, 2024.
He is also charged with assault causing harm and with producing an article with the intention of causing intimidation on the same date.
Judge Patricia Harney was told Mr Mulcaire made no reply to the new charge after it was put to him by gardai before the court sitting.

Garda Inspector Barry Manton said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had been consulted by investigating gardai and that she has directed that the case should proceed on indictment before the Limerick Circuit Court.
Insp Manton requested that the case be adjourned so that the book of evidence can be prepared.
Solicitor Cathal Quirke, representing Mr Mulcaire, requested a Disclosure Order to allow his client to consider his position.
However, Judge Harney denied the request saying she could not do so given the DPP's directions.
Mr Mulcaire was remanded on continuing bail and the case was adjourned until November 18, when the book of evidence is expected to be served.
