LIMERICK'S multiple All-Ireland-winning hurling captain Declan Hannon has blown the final whistle on his career with recruitment firm Unijobs.

In an announcement posted to the social network LinkedIn this Friday, the Adare clubman has confirmed his departure from the firm "after nine fantastic years".

"I'm incredibly grateful for the people I've met, the clients I've worked with and the experience gained, with plenty of laughs along the way," Mr Hannon said.

Mr Hannon worked as national recruitment manager for the firm.

Based at the towering Riverpoint complex in Limerick city centre, Unijobs was founded in 2013. It provides staffing solutions to the public sector.

Mr Hannon will now move to Adare Global Personnel Solutions, where he will work as its operations director.

Based at The Pavillion in Adare's Manor Fields, the company provides recruitment services in the health, hospitality, IT services, pharmaceutical, engineering and construction sectors among other things.

It was founded by Richie O’Sullivan.

Mr Hannon is Limerick's most successful ever county hurling captain, being part of the panel which saw the Treaty win five All-Ireland titles in eight years - including four-in-a-row between 2020 and 2023.

He was also on the panel which delivered national league titles, and six straight Munster championship wins, a run which only came to an end in the summer when Limerick lost to Cork in the decider.

He is married to broadcaster Louise Cantillon from Kilcornan, and the couple live in the village of Adare.

The pair were childhood sweethearts, meeting at a school disco in their teens.

They tied the knot in September 2023.
