UPDATE: Gardai launch investigation after device thrown at house

A DEVICE thrown at a home on the southside of the city failed to explode, Limerick Live has learned.

The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team travelled down to make the device, believed to be a pipe bomb, safe.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí received a report of an incident that occurred at a domestic residence in Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick city on Wednesday, October 15 at approximately 10:30pm.”

No injuries have been reported at this time. It is not known if the house was occupied at the time.

“Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

The scene was cordoned off by gardai for a forensic technical examination to be carried out.

The attack is believed to be connected to an ongoing feud between two rival factions.
