BREAKING: Woman, 70s, dies following two-vehicle road traffic collision in Limerick

A PENSIONER has passed away in hospital following a two-vehicle collision in County Limerick.

It is the second fatal collision to occur in west Limerick in less than a week following the death of a motorcyclist on the R519 between Kilmeedy and Dromcollogher last Sunday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision on the N21 at Templeglantine West, County Limerick on Saturday, October 18.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene after the incident at 11.50am.

A garda spokesperson said the female driver of one of the cars, aged in her 70s, was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

“A female passenger of the second vehicle, aged in her 70s, was conveyed to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

“A forensic collision investigation will be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI),” said a garda spokesperson.

The road is currently open this Sunday.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area between 11am and noon on Saturday, October 18 to contact them.

“Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from that section of road during the relevant period are also asked to make it available to investigating officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Bruff garda station on (061) 382940, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” said a garda spokesperson.
