THERE are few nicer places to be in Limerick at Christmas time than the Milk Market.

And this year is set to be no different, as management at the city centre facility unveil their programme for the festive season.

From Friday, December 5 until Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, the Milk Market will be playing host to a joyful series of festive events and community activities.

This year's celebrations will blend beloved traditions with exciting new additions.

As always, festive food, crafts, art, music, and family fun will take place under the market's Christmas canopy of lights.

And this year, animated Christmas movies will be screened in the space, and youngsters will have the chance to meet Father Christmas himself in a Lego-inspired Santa’s grotto!

The Milk Market will operate as normal on the weekends from Friday, December 5 to Sunday, December 7, then Friday, December 12 to Sunday, December 14.

Then, as tradition dictates, it will open every day from Friday, December 19, right up until the day before Christmas.

A Christmas art fair will take place under the canopy on Sunday, December 7.

While the following Sunday, December 14, will see a special festive-themed vinyl record and CD fair.

Seven days later, there is a Christmas antique, vintage craft fair.

Santa Claus will visit the Milk Market on December 5, 7, 11, 13, 14 and 19.

And ahead of his trip around the globe delivering gifts to children, he will pay a final visit to the Milk Market on Christmas Eve.

While the majority of the festive fun is reserved for December, there are a number of events at the Milk Market this month.

Among this is the Christmas Ivory Elephant Market on Sunday, November 23.

A festive edition of Twilight Thursday takes place the following Thursday.

And on Sunday, November 30, a Christmas Craft Fair in aid of Deel Animal Rescue takes place.
