STAFF at a research centre which design healthcare solutions for the future are celebrating after their firm was named overall winner of the Limerick Chamber Business Award 2025.
BD Research Centre Ireland, located at Castletroy, won the top award at the annual event which celebrates the achievements of businesses across the region.
More than 400 people were present at the Strand Hotel for the black-tie event on Friday night, which also saw the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) president Prof Vincent Cunnane honoured with a special award marking the service he has given to the Mid-West.

Also present was the Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Dennis King.
It was a second triumph of the night for BD Research Centre Ireland, which employs more than 300 people locally.
The company also won in the category of innovation and digital transformation.
It was something of a family affair for the Cunnane family, with Prof Cunnane's son Connor, a senior systems engineer at BD Reserch Centre Ireland, helping his employer to the title.

“We’re absolutely delighted to win this award. It is great to have an organisation like Limerick Chamber acknowledging the best of our city and region and the companies operating here. This award recognises the impact we are making in the region and will drive us to be even better," he said.
Also in the winners’ enclosure at the event - which is the highlight of Limerick’s business calendar - were Treaty Software, based in Upper Cecil Street in the city centre.
Annacotty company DSM, Data Storage and Managmeent was named best small to medium sized enterprise.
The award for sustainability and environmental leadership went to Johnson and Johnson Vision Care Ireland, at Plassey.
Another company based in that area, Cook Medical, was named the best employer.
Our Lady of Lourdes Community Services Group, based on the southside, won the best not for profit award.
University Concert Hall, located on campus at University of Limerick scooped the best retail and hospitality prize.
And the community impact award went to Dell Technologies, based in Raheen.
Dr Liam Brown, vice-president of award sponsors TUS, said: “The stories behind tonight’s winners show the strength and potential of this region.”
