Porsche Lad was the very well-supported winner of the concluding 10-furlong handicap for trainer Charles Byrnes at Dundalk on Wednesday. The four-year-old only got into the race as the first reserve when the Sean Davis-trained Giselles Defence became a non-runner and left without a ride, Davis switched to the David Fowler-owned Porsche Lad and got the 6/4 favourite home by a neck from Eoin Doyle’s 11/2 shot Moondharrig which was ridden by Wesley Joyce. Paddy Harnett was a head away in third place on the Donnacha O'Brien-trained 7/1 chance Candidly.

The Richard O’Brien-trained Quatre Bas ran out a most comfortable winner of the 10-furlong handicap at Dundalk on Friday evening. Owned by Frank Lynch and Maria Lynch, the Colin Keane-ridden 6/5 favourite came from off the pace and led over a furlong out before skipping clear to beat Denis Hogan’s 22/1 chance Tatateo by two and three-parts of a length. Keane was earlier a winner on the Hogan-trained 6/4 favourite Badger’s Cove in the nursery handicap.
Charles Byrnes gave County Cork amateur Abbie Fitzgibbon her first jumping success as the six-year-old Flashaway took the two-mile maiden hurdle at Navan on Sunday. Owned by the rider’s uncle Nelius O’Keeffe, the 16/1 shot led approaching the final hurdle and stuck to her task well to beat the Ross O'Sullivan-trained 5/4 favourite Switch From Diesel and Danny Gilligan by a length. The winning rider is a brother of hurling star Darragh Fitzgibbon and she was riding her second winner having previously taken an amateur riders’ race at Listowel on the Michael Winters-trained Dark Spark in June 2022.
