The new route would link the Golf Links Road with the Groody Road
AN Coimisiún Pleanála has approved a new link road in Castletroy, in what will expand the overall road, pedestrian and cycle network of the city’s east side.
The new carriageway would link the Golf Links Road from its Schoolhouse Road junction, with the Groody Road at the southern leg of Kilbane Roundabout.

The move has been welcomed by Independent City East councillor Elena Secas.
“The granting of planning permission is another significant step forward for this strategic project, following a long campaign. The council will now be looking to secure the necessary funding to advance the project to the next stage,” she explained.
She urged immediate talks with the National Transport Authority to get the funding in place for the project.
“Groody area residents are stuck and can't leave their estates in the mornings due to queues of traffic in both directions on Groody Road,” Cllr Secas added in a statement welcoming the news.
