International multi award-winning superstar Michael Bublé has announced a show at Limerick’s Thomond Park Stadium on June 28, 2026
LIMERICK crooner, Liam O’Brien, has boldly put his name forward for what could be the performance of a lifetime - joining global superstar Michael Bublé on stage when he plays Thomond Park next summer.
And now, even Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, has taken to social media to ask whether the city can help make Liam’s dream a reality.
Speaking to Limerick Live, Liam said: “For me, throwing my name in for the Micheal Buble gig is really about following the dream - even in your mid 40’s! I've had some mad highs and lows in this business and I’ve failed at plenty over the years, but I’ve never once regretted giving something a shot. The only real regret in life is not trying.”

He added: Being part of a show like this in my hometown would genuinely be a dream come true. I grew up on this music and its been the soundtrack to some of the best and toughest moments of my life. To step onto that stage even for one song with the man himself in Thomond Park would be one of those rare moments you remember forever.”
“Wherever comes of it, I’m enjoying the ride and having great craic with it. Life's too short to not take a swing!”
O’Brien’s journey with the arts has taken him far beyond Limerick’s stages, as he has also spent time working on the celebrated ITV series Emmerdale, where he was a series regular for 3 years.
After the gig was announced, Liam took straight to social media with his dream, saying: “As a lifelong Limerick crooner who has been serenading this city since Brown Thomas was Todds… I feel it’s only right I throw my fedora in the ring to guest with him and his band.”
“You bring the band, Michael, I’ll bring the Chicken Hut.”
His campaign has already sparked excitement online, including from Mayor John Moran, who shared the post, saying: “Could we make this happen??”
The buzz follows yesterday’s announcement that Michael Bublé will perform at Thomond Park next summer, marking what is set to be one of Limerick’s biggest live events of the year.
