SPANISH fashion chain Mango is set to open an outlet at the former Debenhams building in Limerick city centre.
The unit has been largely out of use since Easter 2020, at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown when the British retailer collapsed into liquidation.
But now the prime art-deco style building at the junction of O'Connell Street and Sarsfield Street is set for a new lease of life.
Signage belonging to Mango, which was founded in Barcelona 41 years ago, has been plastered on the window of the building this Friday.

It is a fast-fashion retailer, which designs, manufactures and markets women, mens and children's clothing and accessories.
Refurbishment work has been taking place at the landmark building for the last few months, with planning permission also secured for an aparthotel.

The overall project is being led by Galway developer Michael McDonagh.
Reacting to the news, Independent councillor Maria Donoghue said: "I am delighted to see the refurbishment and reoccupation of this important building in the heart of Limerick City. Increasing the population of Limerick city centre remains paramount as a main force for a thriving city. However, continued investment like this helps create a vibrant, thriving urban core where people will want to live and work. Together with the recent completion of its neighbour, Keane’s Jewellers, this development sends a strong signal of confidence in Limerick City. We must continue to believe in Limerick."
It's the second boost Limerick city centre has received from Barcelona this week
On Wednesday, chipmaker Openchip, founded in the Catalan city, announced plans to open a new centre at the Gardens International complex in Henry Street.
