AN INTOXICATED man who was found “on the ground” with injuries by gardaí was convicted of public order offences when he appeared before Kilmallock District Court.
Jonathan Moloney (also known as John Moloney), of Ballinakill East, County Cork, was found by gardaí unable to stand outside a house at Sycamore Drive, Bruff Limerick on May 1, 2025.
The court heard that once the gardaí came upon the scene, an ambulance “had to be called” such were the garda concerns.
Inspector Gearóid Thompson told the court that Mr Moloney has 33 previous convictions, including six for assault, seven for public order offences, two for drink driving offences, unauthorised possession of a firearm, obstruction of a peace officer as well as number of road traffic infractions.

Solicitor Julianne Kiely said Mr Moloney is “very embarrassed” by what happened and that he “does not remember the night in question”.
In a plea for mitigation, Ms Kiely further stated that after the incident Mr Moloney obtained a residential place for addiction treatment in Cork.
Judge Patricia Harney convicted and fined him €400 for the public order offence. Mr Moloney was given five months to pay the fine.
