CELIA Holman Lee's pictorial coffee table book Glamour & Grit has just been launched.

It celebrates 60 years of Celia working in the fashion industry, as well as marking her 75th birthday.

Celia's mother Kathleen kept every single photograph and newspaper cutting and Celia painstakingly went through these during the pandemic.

“There were boxes and boxes and my husband had said to get rid of them or do something, and getting rid of them was never going to be an option,” she said.

Across 240 pages, the book is divided into decades with stories from Celia's fascinating life along with glorious pictures of her modelling days and younger life.

It is punctuated with tips and tricks from Celia on posture, sitting and standing in photographs and how to dress for your body shape.

When it comes to modelling, Celia told the Limerick Leader: “I will stand on the stages and ramps and scream at every woman that your posture is your  greatest gift - it's all in the shoulders and how you carry yourself.”

While the book is packed with amazing photographs, Celia's favourite is from a model shoot where she has one leg stretched out posing in the engine of the first jumbo jet that landed in Shannon.

“I got a bus out to the airport in my hot pants and blouse, got a wave to go out to the runway - you wouldn't have that with security these days. I opened a wire gate and walked over to the jet, the photographer got a ladder and I climbed in and remember it being warm, it was mad looking back,” she smiled.

The style icon credits former Limerick Leader editor Eugene Phelan for getting her into writing when he first started her weekly column in the paper.

Celia thanked Clodagh O'Leary who used to help with her weekly  column and edited the book, Orla Shiel for the help with photographs and Michael Mulcahy for publishing it, as well as all those who contributed.

Glamour & Grit can be purchased in shops for €39.99 and online with next day delivery for Christmas gifts.
