ELECTED members of the Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District have formally approved the sale of a small parcel of land on the outskirts of Kilfinane.
In a briefing note, circulated in advance of the December meeting, Jayne Leahy Head of Property Management Services, said the land, which is less than 60 square metres in size, is currently owned by Limerick City and County Council.
However, she said it has been in the possession of a local family for more than a decade and that it is not required for use by the local authority. She said a request has been received from solicitors representing the family and that the proposal to dispose of the land is to assist them “to regularise the title”.

Elected members were also informed that the small pocket of land forms part of the Estate of a local man who died a number of years ago. The proposal was noted by elected members and it will now come before a meeting of the full council in the new year for final ratification.
The land will then be disposed of to the Executrix to the deceased man’s Estate for a nominal fee of €1.
