Eilis Duggan, Paddy McCormack, Mary Lysaght, Ollie Dillon, of Cappamore Historical Society, at the Ceapach Mhór launch
THE 38th edition of Ceapach Mhór is for sale in local shops in Cappamore and surrounding parishes but it features articles from home and abroad.
This year, they mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the front cover depicts this with the slogan ‘Peace in our time’. Mary Lysaght, editor, said this, of course, was aspirational rather than factual as the inside cover shows Ukraine and Gaza where war still wreaks havoc.

“Other topics in the history section include Castlegarde during the war, history seen through the power of film, Ireland foreign policy as a fledgling state, the year 1925 in Ireland and The National Pilgrimage to Rome in the same year,” said Ms Lysaght.
Parish priest Fr Dick Browne opens the journal with a lovely message for his flock. Births, deaths and weddings feature, bringing a mixture and memories of both sad and happy events.
There are a variety of articles from individuals, schools and clubs, which record the events of the year - a valuable resource in the future. For some, the highlight of Ceapach Mhór is the pictures, both recent and from bygone days.
At €12, it is keenly priced, and will be winging its way to friends and family near and far.
Ms Lysaght thanked all involved in this production, their sponsors, vendors and all who buy and read it.
