BREAKING: Two arrested as huge amount of drugs seized in Limerick village and north Cork town

TWO people have been arrested and in excess of €300,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs has been seized during searches in a Limerick village and north Cork town.

As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the region, members of Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit arrested two people and seized in excess of €310,600 of suspected illegal drugs during searches in Bruree, County Limerick and Charleville, County Cork, on Friday evening, January 2. 

During the course of the search of a residence in Bruree, cannabis (€198,000), cocaine (€10,500), Xanax tablets (€79,252) and amphetamines (€4,350) were seized.

At a follow-up search of a residence in Charleville, cocaine (€17,500), cannabis (€1000), weighing scales and drugs paraphernalia were seized.

“A woman, aged in her 30’s, and a man, aged in his 40’s, were arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at  garda station in the County Limerick area,” said a garda spokesperson.

The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing.
