Cllr Joe Pond wants to see additional safety measures at the Killonan/Ballysimon junction on the N24
TRANSPORT Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has requested a history of road accidents at a crossing in Ballysimon.
It is hoped this will lead to road safety improvements at the site.
Councillor Joe Pond says Killonan Cross, on the N24 Tipperary Road has been the scene of a number of accidents in recent times, with three in October and November alone.

He wants to see safety measures installed to ensure the junction is safe for all users of the road.
“The Killonan/Tipperary Road junction is on a straight stretch of road with little or no signage to say there is a junction ahead so traffic turning right on the Tipperary Road N27 to go towards Annacotty/Castletroy do so at their own peril,” Cllr Pond explained.
“This has resulted in crashes and accidents happening at the junction.”
He pointed to the money spent at Beary’s Cross near Caherconlish on the same road for a new roundabout, adding Killonan could do with something similar.
Council said it will continue talks with TII.
