Its job is to help factory staff learn new skills, use modern technology, and keep jobs strong for the future.
FactoryXChange is led by Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) and supported by 17 expert partners around Ireland.
Six of these partners are based in Limerick, including the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Mavarick AI, Cyberlynk, Saluto Partners, Monarú, and Piquant.
Factories today face many challenges.
Materials cost more, there is strong competition from other countries, and technology keeps changing.
To keep up, factories need help using tools like artificial intelligence (AI), computers, and online safety systems.
In the past, FactoryXChange has already helped almost 500 Irish businesses and public organisations work better using technology.
Enterprise Minister Peter Burke said the programme will help small and medium businesses learn from the best in the world and be ready for the future, no matter where they are based.
Now, FactoryXChange is inviting Limerick businesses and public organisations to take part, get support, and help shape the future of Irish industry.
Speaking about the impact for the Limerick region, Dr John Cosgrove, director of Smart manufacturing at TUS in its Idean Institute said: “The FactoryXChange network allows us to combine expertise across disciplines, from AI and cybersecurity to design and communication, to help manufacturers in the region transition confidently into Industry 5.0.”
“Limerick has long been a hub of innovation and collaboration, and FactoryXChange builds on that strength to create lasting economic and social impact,” he added.
