Limerick man receives his seventh speeding conviction in a row

The man, who did not appear in court, had already accumulated six previous convictions prior to his most recent court date for speeding

A MAN living in the city has been convicted of his seventh speeding offence at a sitting of Kilmallock District Court.

Gerard Madigan, with a home address at Hillcroft, St Patrick’s Road, Limerick was caught driving at 68 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the Blackboy Road on May 13, 2025.

The man, who did not appear in court, had already accumulated six previous convictions prior to his most recent court date for speeding.

The court heard that Mr Madigan was most recently convicted of speeding on January 24, 2025.

Mr Madigan did not have any legal representation in place at the court sitting.

Prosecuting Inspector Gearóid Thompson told the court that the man has 25 previous convictions in total.

Judge Patricia Harney convicted the man and fined him €500, giving him three months to pay the fine, alongside a €150 bond.
