TWENTY-TWO transition year students from across Limerick will take to the stage this week as Limerick Youth Theatre presents I Am Human, an original production written and directed by John Hogan.
In I am Human a mad scientist creates new life and as the play unfolds the audience sees how this creation affects the lives of ordinary villagers and a troupe of musicians in prison.
The comic play will be staged by the Transition Year Theatre (TYT) Company at Belltable on Tuesday at 7.30pm and on Wednesday at 11am.

John Hogan, writer and director of I am Human said: “Every year, we are fortunate to receive many applications from transition year students to take part in TYT... Ensemble plays are the best way to incorporate as many characters interspersed with live music and movement pieces to include everyone."
“When you have a cast of 22 with two sets of twins – a first for Limerick Youth Theatre – this is no mean feat.”
Angie Smalis, artistic director of LYT addeed: “We are thrilled that we can offer TY students, from six different schools, the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on work experience at Limerick Youth Theatre. This really does give students an insight into how a theatre company is run.”
Tickets for the play cost €10.
