Limerick Musical Society is very excited and honoured to stage ‘MICHAEL COLLINS - a Musical Drama’ from March 19th to March 21st, 2026 at 8pm at the University Concert Hall, Limerick, by arrangement with the Michael Collins Production Trust. This is the only production of this show in the country this year.

This is a very special, moving, and dynamic piece of musical theatre. It will appeal from a historic, dramatic and music perspective. It brings the 1916 Easter Rising, the War of Independence and the Civil War to life while also telling a beautiful and moving love story. It is a musical treat and moving on every level and often referred to as the Irish ‘Lés Miserables’.

It is the story of one man’s battle for peace that cost him his life and that changed Irish history forever culminating in his assassination at Béal na Bláth at the age of 31.

With a cast of 60, this production is in the capable hands of Des Henn (Director including Production movement) and Michael Young (Musical Director including Choral Work). whose creativity and vision is bringing the script to life.

There are some truly beautiful, epic, passionate and moving numbers with magnificent harmonies in this show, such as ‘Fly the Flag of Freedom’ and ‘Every Heart Awaken’. It tells an intimate human story focusing on the interwoven plight of four extraordinary characters: Michael Collins, his adversary Eamon de Valera, his close friend and colleague Harry Boland, and the object of his affections, Kitty Kiernan.

Limerick Musical Society (LMS) was formed in 2000 and since then this multi-award-winning musical Society has gone from strength to strength consistently bringing new and exciting musical theatre to Limerick audiences, in line with our mission
