THE DRIVER of a jeep sped off after being involved in a collision with a teenage pedestrian in the city, Limerick Live has learned.
The injuries suffered by the young man in the hit-and run incident were not life-threatening. A garda investigation was launched and the suspect vehicle has since been recovered.
Following a media query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson confirmed officers received a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
“It occurred in the Ballinacurra Weston area of Limerick city on Friday, February 6 at approximately 12pm.
“The pedestrian, a male aged in his late teens, received treatment for his injuries,” said the garda spokesperson.

A vehicle has been seized by the gardai as part of the ongoing investigations, added the spokesperson.
“Enquiries are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.
