Busy few days ahead for proud Limerick man Brendan O'Dwyer

IT IS GOING to be a March to remember for a proud Limerick man, who has the honour of being selected the grand marshal of a parade in New York, and attending an event with some of the leaders of Limerick hurling’s success.

Successful businessman Brendan O’Dwyer, a native of Brackile, Pallasgreen, moved to the Big Apple in the 1990s where he settled with his family.

He has been chosen as the 2026 Hampton Bays St Patrick’s Day parade grand marshal. The event in Long Island takes place this Saturday.

A post on their Facebook page reads: “Brendan, always an advocate for the Irish, is part of every Irish club there is - the ancient order of Hibernians, the parade committee, the Hibernians GAA club to name a few.

“He is an integral part of the team that co-ordinates the parade annually and we can’t wait to have him lead us down Main Street on March 21. Congratulations Brendan!”

It will be a busy few days for the Pallasgreen man as this Thursday night, the massive hurling supporter will attend An Evening with the Limerick Foundation of New York, in association with Limerick GAA. It takes place at the New York Athletic Club.

Attendees will enjoy an engaging conversation with Knockaderry man Michael Dowling, CEO Emeritus, Northwell Health, alongside a distinguished guest panel featuring Limerick hurling manager John Kiely, the team’s coach Paul Kinnerk, sports psychologist Caroline Currid, and retired captain Declan Hannon.
