Wynton Marsalis has announced that he is set to retire
JAZZ fans will have a final opportunity to see Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, this summer in Limerick.
Tickets for a 2025 performance at Dublin's National Concert Hall sold out just five days after tickets were launched.
It has now been announced that Wynton Marsalis is to step down as artistic/managing director of Jazz at Lincoln Center in 2027.
He has held this position for nearly 40 years and this will be the last opportunity for Irish audiences to catch this performance.
Wynton Marsalis is a world-renowned trumpeter, bandleader, composer and a leading advocate of American culture.
He has been lovingly called the 'pied piper of jazz' and the 'doctor of swing.'

Since his recording debut in 1982, Wynton has released 127 jazz, classical and alternative recordings.
Throughout his career, Wynton has taught and mentored musicians who have gone on to play, teach and advocate for jazz music.
He continues to attract new generations of young talent to take up jazz.
Following on from the Irish performances, the show will go on the road to Amsterdam, Brussels, Zurich, Geneva, Vienna, Luxembourg, Essen and Munich.
Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will perform in Dublin at the National Concert Hall and in Limerick at University Concert Hall on August 14. Both concerts have an 8pm start time.
Tickets range from €40 to €95.
