124 parking tickets were issued to owners of vehicles parked illegally in O'Connell Avenue
ONE parking fine was issued on average every other working day in a city street, new data has revealed.
Information presented to Social Democrats councillor Elisa O’Donovan at this month’s metropolitan meeting shows some 124 parking charges were levied on vehicles parked illegally in O’Connell Avenue last year.
With 250 working days in the year, it means a ticket was slapped on a motor every 48 hours between Monday and Fridays in 2025.

Comparatively, traffic wardens did not issue a single ticket last year in Summerville Avenue, located nearby.
Last month, Cllr O’Donovan called for a tougher approach to drivers who leave their vehicles in residential areas without paying.
It came after it was revealed last year, some 159 tickets were issued by traffic wardens to cars parked in South Circular Road and Springfield Drive.
She called for council bosses to deploy a high-visibility campaign to address parking enforcement.
