NEW Limerick Chamber president Maria Gleeson has used an audience with Taoiseach Micheál Martin to outline a number of priorities for the city and county.
The Fianna Fail leader was guest of honour at the Chamber’s annual luncheon event, which took place in the Castletroy Park Hotel.
She pressed Mr Martin on the need to accelerate the delivery of homes to help the housing crisis.
On top of this, she wants to see increased investment in transport, improved tax policies and support for small firms to help them retain talent and foster innovation.

“Limerick has the ambition, talent, and entrepreneurial spirit to act as a central engine for Ireland’s ongoing growth. What we need now are the right policy decisions, targeted investment, and continued Government support to unlock that full potential. Our 400 member companies, representing 50,000 employees and their families, stand ready to work with Government to deliver what our nation needs,” she said.
Sponsored by AIB, the member event brought together entrepreneurs, small firms, industry leaders and elected representatives for a discussion on Ireland’s economic outlook, enterprise development, and the opportunities and challenges shaping both regional and national growth.
Ms Gleeson highlighted the region’s recent progress, including Shannon Airport’s inclusion in the Regional Airports Programme for 2026 to 2030, the allocation of more than 50 new gardaí to the Limerick division, and the Government’s purchase of land in Raheen for a brand new public hospital alongside University Hospital Limerick.
