Artist Gina O'Connor's exhibition "Into the Wild" is on in Kilkee from April 25 until May 29
A LIMERICK native is set to hold an exhibition in Kilkee, which will run from this weekend until May 29.
Gina O’Connor was born and raised in Limerick and like many Limerick people, has a strong connection to Kilkee and now owns a house there, so she can visit year-round and even indulge in bracing cold water swims.
“Into the Wild” is a visual exhibition and it will be opened by the former Dean of Limerick School of Art and Design, Mike Fitzpatrick, on Saturday, April 25 at 12 noon in Culturlann Sweeney Gallery/Library.
Supported by the Clare Arts Office, the solo exhibition captures Kilkee and Gina’s love for the Wild Atlantic Way, featuring works using oil paint and colour.
“I am so excited to be returning to my wonderfully wild and inspirational Kilkee, a precious place that I have returned to all of my life,” Gina said.
Gina’s latest collection is an impressive showcase of her artistic evolution, marking her second exhibition at the Kilkee venue after her previous six successful solo exhibitions.
Gina immerses herself deeply in the physicality of the creative process. Her bold and spontaneous approach to mark-making has led to her most exciting work to date.
Paintings such as “Blown Away,” “Dancing Flowers,” and “Atlantic Bliss” showcase her fearless approach to art.
Featuring semi-abstract representations of flowers, moons, sheep, mountains, and seas, her work is inspired by the energy of the Wild Atlantic Way and invites personal interpretation and response.
Gina's bold style pushes the limits of traditional boundaries.
