Three Longford women are to be sentenced after last week pleading guilty to public order following a street row over two years ago.

The trio were initially charged with violent disorder and had been arraigned on those charges last week before a sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court.

However, barely 48 hours later, presiding Judge Kenneth Connolly was told the accused could be rearraigned with the four women all pleading guilty to a lesser charge of engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour on the same date.

One of the three women also pleaded guilty to careless driving.

A fourth woman charged in connection to the same alleged incident was yesterday (Tuesday) due to reappear and tender a plea after her legal counsel was unable to attend last week's court sitting.

Reporting restrictions were imposed prohibiting the identification of each of the accused and the location of the alleged incident.

All three were remanded on continuing bail to appear back before a sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court on May 9 for sentencing.

One of the accused also had her bail terms relaxed by consent of the State, allowing her to sign on one day a week as opposed to a previous three day a week order.

No applications were made for probation reports to be carried out with Judge Connolly allowing liberty for each of the trio to apply to the court in the event such reports are needed ahead of next May's return date.
