Fielding a very young team in a rebuilding process undertaken by the new manager Alan Mullen, the Longford ladies football Intermediate team lost out to a strong Kildare side in the National League Division 3 Round 2 clash at the Hawkfield grounds in Kildare on Sunday.

Kildare . . . 4-16  Longford . . . 0-6

A number of the more experienced players are missing this season, most notably Michelle Farrell, and after also suffering a defeat against Louth in the opening round the Longford girls will be hoping for better luck in the home league fixture against Offaly on Sunday next, throw-in 2pm. Venue to be confirmed.

Thanks to a couple of goals from their top scorer Roisin Byrne, Kildare held a commanding 2-8 to 0-4 lead at the break and were far too strong for a Longford team in transition.
